Lit Ying graduated with a Bachelor of Laws in 2011 and obtained her Certificate in Legal Practice in 2012. Upon completing her pupillage, she was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2013. She commenced her legal career at Raslan Loong, Shen & Eow, a well-established corporate law firm, where she quickly distinguished herself through her dedication and legal acumen, earning a partnership within five years.
In 2020, driven by her entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to client service, Lit Ying founded Thoo & Partners, a firm dedicated to delivering practical and strategic legal solutions tailored to the evolving needs of businesses. Her leadership and vision have been central to the firm’s growth and reputation.
Lit Ying’s expertise spans a wide array of corporate and commercial matters. She has advised and represented clients in complex mergers and acquisitions, joint venture transactions, cross-border deals and shareholders’ agreements.
Her commitment to professional development is evidenced by her recognition in 2022 as an Associate Fellow and Certified Professional Technology Specialist by the Industry 4.0 Entrepreneurs Association of Malaysia, highlighting her proficiency in the intersection of law and technology. In 2023, Lit Ying was invited to collaborate with a Hong Kong law firm, providing specialist advice on Hong Kong corporate laws, further reflecting her standing in the regional legal community. She is also a registered franchise consultant in Malaysia.
Acted for the Malaysian sellers in respect of a disposal of shares to a Japanese fund of which the company was valued at RM100 million.
Acted for one of the largest food companies in the world, in the disposal of its entire shareholdings in a Malaysian company.
Acted for one of the leading manufacturer of kitchen cabinet and wardrobe in respect of a disposal of business and shares to a company listed in Singapore.
Assisted in the acquisition of shares in one of the leading player in the advertising industry by a company listed in the Stock Exchange of Thailand.
Assisted in the restructuring of one of the largest and most established real estate consultancies in Malaysia and the disposal of part of the shares by the major shareholder to a Government linked company.
